Cine-Rama is back with a brand new episode!
Cine-Rama Podcast Episode 28 – A Damn Fine Cup Of Coffee
Christian and Keith sit down once again with special guest Eric Martin (DC Noise, The Trip, Comics Playground). In this episode they discuss Twin Peaks, the seminal television show from David Lynch and Mark Frost. No backwards talking dwarves were harmed in the making of this episode.

The Alligator People
1959
Directed by Roy Del Ruth
Who knew that shooting someone in the face with gamma rays was a good idea for a medical procedure? The legislators currently working on healthcare reform could learn a lot from this movie.
The plot is pretty simple to break down. A scientist attempts to create a super cure by injecting people with alligator hormones, until, in a shocking twist, they become . . . wait for it . . . Alligator People!
There’s also a weird framing device used wherein they are dealing with suppressed memories, but that doesn’t have anything to do with the story really.
This film has everything you could expect from a bad black and white horror film. A drunken hook-handed man, bad science, cheap rubber suits, casual racism, gaping plot holes, screaming ladies with always perfectly maintained hair, a mad scientist, um, Lon Chaney.
It was good to see that the tradition of horror film stupidity started early. Immediate upon seeing a box clearly labeled “DANGER RADIOACTIVE” what does our protagonist do? That’s right, she sits on it.
A-doy!
I give it one spooky pumpkin out of five.

Another Screening and Award For 24 Frames September 21, 2009

From Brad:
“24 Frames” was well received at the IRIS film festival in Huntington, PA, this past weekend. It won an award for “best narrative short”. This is the festival when I screened an in-progress version of the film in 2007 and talked about the stop-motion process.
Be sure to be on the look out for Brad’s next film, a traditional 2D animated piece titled “Of Frogs and Gods”

On Facebook there’s a meme going around asking people to list 15 books they thought would always stick with them (you have to be able to think of them in 15 minutes). I thought I’d share my results here as well, so here they are in no particular order.

Keith: So I think I figured it out.
Keith: You’re actually Louis the 14th . . . sometimes called The Sun King.
Keith: You’re hiding in our century in the body of an immigrant male prostitute to escape your ancient foe the Grim Reaper.
Keith: You’ll be on your run until you can find the ancient forgotten city of Shangri La . . . where in its computer archives lay the key to your salvation.
Luke Foster: Way to steal my fanfic idea.
