Halloween Horror Countdown Pt. 9 October 16, 2008

It’s the rare film that works both as great horror and brilliant, laugh out loud comedy.  Severence is that film.

Written by James Moran, who coincidentally wrote last year’s brilliant Fires of Pompeii episode for Doctor Who, this story deals with a group of employees for a defense company going on a weekend “team building” exercise in the Hungarian forest.  Their non-English speaking bus driver, realizing where they are, refuses to go further, leaving them to hike the rest of the way to the lodge.  Once they arrive at this abandoned piece of crap mysterious forces from the woods begin to pick the workers off one by one.

When I say this film is funny I mean it.  We’re talking Shaun of the Dead hilarious.  I highly recommend this film to anyone.

I give it 5 spooky pumpkins out of 5.
