This is going to be a short entry as I’m still reading the book, and I’m sure I’ll blog a bit more about it as I continue in the journey.  I’m currently reading Just a Geek by Wil Wheaton (he’s from the Internet!).  It’s really a wonderful read about a journey battling the ghosts of regret and the past, and pushing forward into the future by knowing who you really are.

One of the things that I wanted to mention in particular just now is how clear it is from the writing how much affection the cast of The Next Generation had for one another.  And how much they still do.  I just finished the chapter about the filming of Star Trek: Nemesis and there is a moment that Wheaton talks about between him and Patrick Stewart . . . you remember the episode where they crash on the planet just before Wesley is meant to go to Starfleet Academy?  The emotional end of that arc from that episode . . . almost of a father and a son treating each other equally?  Of the father being able to look at his son, now a man, and tell him ultimately how much he loves him (even though it was never said in those kinds of terms)?

Same moment.
